Why Cornerstone exists.

Dan Jock earned his actuarial credentials at MassMutual, then moved inside a third-party administrator in 2014 to learn the business from the ground up. What he found in the small-employer 401(k) market was a lot of opportunity and a lot of waste. Slow service. Template designs. Complex cases turned away because they took real expertise. He believed it could be done better, and in 2016 he started Cornerstone from scratch to prove it.

The bet was simple: pair serious technical depth with genuinely human service. Answer the phone in two rings. Put a decision maker within reach of every advisor. Take on the complicated designs others decline, and explain them so clearly the advisor can retell it.

The bet paid off. Dan built the firm to roughly a hundred clients, then merged with Larry Starr’s Qualified Plan Consultants to add the infrastructure and seasoned staff to keep growing without letting the standard slip. Today, Cornerstone administers plans nationwide for advisors who want a partner, not a portal. The ambition hasn’t changed: grow as large as the national players while staying independent, expert, and human.
